BC Hydro has issued a public advisory ahead of probable delays on Old Fort Road.

Beginning tonight, large penstock segments will be transported from a manufacturing facility in Fort St. John to the Site C dam site.

Due to the size of the penstocks, there will be minor traffic delays along Old Fort Rd. as the equipment is moved using oversized trucks.

The scheduled deliveries will take about an hour and a half each time they occur.

Right now, BC Hydro says they're planned to occur weekly to biweekly depending on the phase of the project.

Delays of up to 35 minutes are expected, with some detours in place.

Nighttime commuters may need to adjust their travel plans during the delivery windows or be prepared for short delays.

BC Hydro says these deliveries will continue from May 2019 until June 2021.
